Section 1: The
Ring
What is The Ring Of
Wire?
- The Ring Of Wire is a unique method of promoting your network
for free. It leverages the power of the Ning platform, with some
minor additions where needed, to help you get the word out about
your network, and the networks of others. Furthermore, Ring Of Wire
offers reviews, articles, and free link exchange. No fees
here!
- Update:
- We are now open to other appropriate websites, blogs, etc.
No need to have a Ning network.
Okay! Kule! So tell me, what is
the correct name for this network, "The Ring Of Wire", or just
"Ring Of Wire"?
- Both. You can call it either one. Sometimes, I also call it
"The Ring" for short.
How can I get listed on the
Ring?
- The easiest way to get listed is to join, and fill out the
profile questions. You could get listed without joining, but that
would not be fair, now would it? Part of what makes the Ring tick
is your participation!
Do I need to be a network creator to join?
No. You can join if you like whether or not you have a network or
website.
Do you have any restrictions on
who can be listed?
- Yes. We have rules on what kind of content your site can have,
and we do not allow dating networks of any kind. Furthermore,
remember to keep in line with the Ning Terms Of Service. If you
have any questions, don't hesitate to ask :-).
Do I need a network Logo to be
listed?
- No. While I would prefer if you had one, you DO NOT need to have one. However, if
you'd like to have one produced for you, contact me.
So who do I contact?
- For now, you should contact Roland Taylor (that's me who wrote
this FAQ). Email me, or send me a message on another Ning
network.
Who else administrates this
site?
- For the time being, that's my secret, and until we are fully
settled, I will keep it a secret for the most part.
Do you take donations for this
service?
- Absolutely not! Did Jesus charge us for dying? Why then should
I charge or take money for a simple service? :-), Ring Of Wire is
going to stay free unless there is a need to change that in the
future, which currently is unlikely.
What's with the young, hip,
unprofessional look?
- It keeps things fresh, and it's not so unprofessional at
all.
Section 2: Using
Ring Of Wire.
Why is there a Badge Wall, and
then a Directory?
- Well, the reason for having both is simply that the Directory
will have detailed information, and eventually such things as
search and polling functionality. The badge wall will have little
more than badges, and won't be improved that much.
Do you plan to charge for
either?
What is a Ring Cast?
- A Ring Cast quite simply a video that shows some activity,
feature, or assistance with a feature, from either Ring Of Wire, or
another network on Ning. We use them for both network promotion and
tutorial purposes.
How can I create a Ring
Cast?
Okay, so you won't answer that
question? Can you do it for me then?
- Lol, your previous question can be answered in the previously
mentioned link. However, if you want a Ring Cast of your network or
something else created, I can do that for you! As usual it's
free.
Free, eh? What's your
catch?
- I don't play sports to often, so "catching" ain't my thing.
There is no "catch" for any of this.
No Catch? Are you
crazy?
- Nope. Insane maybe, but not crazy. lol.
Okay, so what other features do
you offer?
- Screen Shots are something that are generally easy to acquire
on your own, but if you need me to do that for you too, I'll be all
to glad to do it.
WOW!
Link Exchange
You mentioned link exchange
earlier. How does it work?
- Link exchange is a simple matter really. You can use Ning's
built in badge feature to add links to other's networks, and to The
Ring Of Wire.
Do I have to?
- I would suggest it. The more networks have link exchanges in
place, the more their members will know about Ring Of Wire, and
thus, your network. Plus, it's only fair that you exchange links
with others, even though it's not required. Remember, they will
most likely do it for you.
Are you sure this
works?
- So far, we have yet to do solid research, but as far as can be
determined otherwise, yes.
Won't you just be recycling members over and over?
- Maybe that will happen in the early stages, but as time goes
by, this will be less and less of a problem. Further more, this is
not the goal of Ring Of Wire.
Okay, so I should give it a try then?
Thank you!
